My client has dreams of quitting her job in the corporate world and opening a specialty pie bakery. I made this sign for her to kitchen to keep the dream going. Hopefully one day she will actually quit her job and start the bakery she always wanted.

I know I would have a slice of pie at Lori Ann's Slice of Heaven. With a name like that how could you not want to know what the pies taste like.

Just keep dreaming, because if you stop dreaming they can never come true!

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the hardest to follow through with. Although most people agree that to live in the moment will lead to more joy than constantly thinking about the past and worrying about the future they don't actually live in the moment.

Living in the moment means turning off cell phones when you are spending time with a friend, thinking about what you are doing while you are doing it, and quitting creating scenarios about the future.

Remember, what is going to happen will happen so stop wasting your life planning every detail and rerunning your memories.

I created my logo a while ago, but haven't really integrated it into my blog other than using it as a watermark on my post pictures. Little by little you will be seeing it incorporated into this site.

Here are to images I made for my profile picture. In the end I decided to use the second one, but who knows I love change so I might use the first one some place in the future.

Since creating this logo I have decided that I need to change the color scheme of my blog too, I think it is a little too girly right now. Watch out each day and try to find what I have changed.

Even with so many ideas constantly going through my head I still get blank paper syndrome, AKA feeling uninspired. 

It seems like the times when I have absolutely no way of drawing my idea out or when I am too busy to jot something down is when I have the best ideas for art projects.

I think that the reason why this is when the good ideas start flowing is because you aren't trying too hard. When you feel like you need to start a new project and you just have a blank piece of paper in front of you it is almost impossible to think of a great idea.

Here are some ways to stop Blank Paper Syndrome:

1. Go outside! take a walk, go on a hike, soak up the sun if you have some

2. Clean the house! when my home is too messy I can't concentrate and good ideas seem to stop

3. Read a book! creating images in your head of characters can be a great way to come up with new ideas


I am always open to new ideas to find inspiration. What works best for you when you are having artist block?

While I am at home on the weekends I usually listen to pandora while cleaning and web surfing. I love music but I hardly ever know the name of the song I'm listening to or the name of the band. This song started playing and I had to take a minute to listen to the song a few more times and really think about the lyrics. This isn't a new song and I have heard it many times, but today this song really was meaningful to me. I hope you enjoy it too.

Fine Art is my first love, but the more I work on graphic design projects the more  I am starting to fall for graphic design. One of the biggest contributors to this is the fact that it takes up NO space and doesn't leave a mess.

Here is a poster I am working on for a fundraiser that I am helping to coordinate. We haven't picked a date yet so I will have to add more information when I get it.

I love the way that you have completely separate layers that you can add and remove without changing all your other progress. You can go into a project without a clue as to what you really want and just try a bunch of ideas at the same time and see what you like.

I'm still crazy about fine art, but I think I will be working in Photoshop a little more these days.

Artists, do you find that it depends on your mood the medium that you choose to use?

I can't believe today is the first day of Spring! whaaahooo. This winter has really been getting to me and I hope the season change will also be a weather change. The sun has been peeking in and out today which is a good change from the daily groom we have been experiencing in Portland.

I think Spring might be my favorite season because it is filled with hope of warm weather and new beginnings.

It's funny how a little sunshine can change your mood drastically. Here in the Pacific Northwest we have been deprived of sun rays all winter. Yesterday the sun finally cam out for the whole day. YAY! Everyone seemed to be in a great mood and I was very happy too.

While I was walking my dog I realized how many flowers has bloomed and plants had grown.

Sorry about the fuzzy pictures, its hard to focus my iphone when I have a dog trying to run away.

If you are enjoying a sunny day today i would suggest taking a walk and looking at all the pretty flowers that are popping up.

I'm trying to organize my life a little more each week.

I took these plain unfinished wood organizers and tried to figure out what to do with them. I found inspiration from the fabric below. This pattern is on my comforter and pillows on the bed and since I wanted the organizers to go on the desk in my bedroom using this pattern would tie them together.

I first painted them silver and them picked a few of the designs on the fabric to paint.

Then I added to word organize to the side as a constant reminder to use the the boxes and not to just set them up and forget to use them.

Hopefully I can get all my paperwork organized using these this week.
